6 Ways to Increase Engagement on Instagram

So, you've created some strong content. You've had photo shoots with friends, gone to trendy coffee shops, and put on a stellar outfits. You've got the content and the theme on your account and it looks great.

However, you're not getting many reactions. You've gotten some likes here and there, some comments, but you want more! You want the content you've been working so hard on to be seen by the masses.

If you want likes, comments, and more followers, you want what's called ENGAGEMENT.

You want more people to engage with what you've got.

Here are just a few ways that you can increase engagement:

1. Time yourself

Make sure you are spending a certain amount of time a day commenting, liking, and following other people's content. Sometimes when you're busy thinking about your own content you forget to engage with others that you want liking your own. Seek out those accounts that you want following you and engage with them. Try to make it not spammy though - writing real & authentic comments + messages is key.

I would suggest spending 15-30 minutes daily going through who you follow and the hashtags that you post on your own photos.

2. Hashtags

Hashtags are an easy way to get some quick engagement! Look at my previous blog post for more information about this. You can get quick likes and potential new followers who like your kind of content.

3. Follow

In order for people to get people to follow you, you've got to follow (some of) them! Go ahead and find some people that have similar content with you and give them a follow.

Now, this is where things can get a little strategic: if you follow them and they follow you back, if you want to, you can unfollow them after 24-48 hours and hope they don't notice. This happens to me ALL THE TIME. I will have a really cool blogger randomly follow me and then I'll follow back, and then the next day they would have unfollowed me. This has definitely worked for some people. I don't personally do this, but there are numerous people who have done this.

4. Respond to Comments

Now, when you do get some engagement, thank people for it! Like their comments, respond, and then engage with their content. Engagement is a two way street, so when you do get some engagement, make it worth while!

5. Tag everyone involved

This is a super easy way to get quick engagement. Tag the clothes you wear, the places you go, and any of the people in the photos. Hopefully these brands and places will respond + engage with your content. It's free advertising with them and it's a PR opportunity for them to showcase their voice and brand.

6. Promote your latest posts on Instagram Stories

Instagram Stories is a great way to keep making content that will entertain your audience along with your Instagram posts each week. Doing boomerangs or fun pictures of what you are up to on the daily  on there will intrigue your followers to see if you have any new photos and check out your profile.

I hope this helps! I try to implement all of these things.
